European Development Days

Objectives

  • Raise awareness for European Development Days (2015 – 2018, Brussels) as a discussion platform for the coordination of future international development policies, promote the European Commission as a leading political institution
  • Position the EDD as an important stakeholder consultation meeting, encourage debate with speakers from various specialist areas, from the EU Member States and worldwide, increase media coverage to allow the EDD to become a springboard for innovative ideas from political, economy and opinion leaders

Tasks

  • Programme and content assistance:
  • Assist the European Commission in structuring the event with a 2-day programme
  • Support on the selection of proposals for panel discussions received from stakeholders
  • Update the programme regularly
  • Logistics and venue setup:
  • Coordinate venue setup and audio-visual equipment
  • On-site attendance, back office for administrative tasks
  • Organise fair trade catering
  • Communication strategy
  • Continuous update and adaptation of the content and structure of the website and social media before the event
  • Contact important press agencies and radio/TV networks for media partnerships
  • Set up press offices in 7 main countries
  • Editorial, graphic and audio-visual content

Results

  • 7.000 attendees, plus European Commission and EEAS staff
  • 95 VIPs, for instance: 8 members of the European Commission
  • 123 interviews in three rooms dedicated to the press; 33 TV programmes; 22 radio shows; 69 interviews with Young Leaders; 66 media partnerships; 192 journalists
  • Facebook: 110 posts, generated 98.359 likes; EuropeAid new followers increased by 10,8%
